How much time and effort is required? It depends on whether you choose the cohort-based path or the personalized one. During these 12 weeks, you’ll commit to: Watching a one-hour video once weekly. You can watch this during the weekend or by the latest before our group coaching session. Practicing for a total of 15 minutes per day, guided by the Positive Intelligence app, which is exclusively designed for this program. For the Cohort Path: Attending weekly live group coaching sessions (60-90 minutes). Most sessions last 60 minutes, while the first, eighth, and final sessions will be 90 minutes. These sessions are held weekly on Wednesdays at 19:00 CET For the Personalized Path: One-on-one coaching sessions tailored specifically to your needs and challenges. These sessions are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly at a time that best suits you, offering deeper personalization and flexibility. In addition, your journey will include customized resources and practices beyond the app to ensure your development aligns with your unique goals. This might sound like a lot of time, but cumulatively, it constitutes less than 2% of your waking hours over the duration of the program. Where are you based? Can I work with you remotely?I am based in Berlin and offer remote coaching and advisory sessions for clients who are also based outside of Berlin. These sessions happen online via Google Meet, and more than 80 percent of coaching today takes place via videoconference, which has proven to be highly effective and offers greater flexibility. While in-person coaching can be valuable, remote coaching allows for regular, consistent contact and can be more convenient for both the coach and the client. Some of my group coaching programs and training also take place online, while for training, conferences, and some specific team coaching engagements, I travel to the client's location.
-
How do you tailor your coaching and advisory approach to individual client needs?I invest time and effort in getting to know my clients on a personal and professional level, as well as their unique context, objectives, and challenges. This is a process and the more I work with the client the better I am able to understand them and serve them. In the initial stages, I use in-depth discussions, assessments, stakeholder interviews (sometimes), and active listening, to gain a comprehensive understanding of their goals, values, preferences, and areas for development. This allows us to establish a strong foundation for our relationship and ensures that our work together is aligned with their objectives. I use a flexible and adaptive coaching and advisory style. Whether they prefer a more directive or collaborative approach, structured frameworks, or open-ended exploration, I adjust my approach, communication, and methodologies accordingly. This flexibility helps me to meet my clients where they are and provide the level of support and guidance that best suits their individual learning styles and personality, as well as their organizational circumstances. Finally, I continuously seek feedfoward and input from my clients throughout the coaching process. By maintaining open lines of communication and actively seeking their perspectives, I ensure that our coaching sessions remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with their needs and priorities.

What sets your apart from other coaches or advisors?I have extensive international experience in the impact sector, having worked and lived in Colombia, Belgium, India, the UK, and Germany and serving clients and teams in the USA, Switzerland, Mexico, Singapore, and Kenya, among other places. I have led teams and steered organizational transformations, most recently as the Head of People at Instiglio, a global impact consulting firm. Throughout my career, I have built and led more than 15 teams, including the award-winning Public Innovation Team of the National Planning Department in Colombia. This experience gives me deep insights into my clients' challenges and opportunities, allowing me to provide practical, contextually relevant guidance and support. My coaching and advisory approach is evidence-based, grounded in research, and proven methodologies. I use scientific insights and best practices to inform my work, ensuring that my clients receive the most effective and impactful support possible. More specifically, as a Coach: My coaching approach is not just about acquiring new skills, but about facilitating deep, transformative changes in mindset, behavior, and identity. This approach is designed to inspire and empower, offering a path to profound personal and professional growth. I also focus on habit formation, which is essential to making lasting changes. I use the principles of Positive Intelligence to help my clients build the necessary "brain muscles" to create new habits and behaviors. Mindfulness is another critical part of my coaching approach, which helps clients cultivate self-awareness, emotional resilience, and presence. This helps them develop clarity, focus, and balance in their lives. As a coach, I lead by example, placing a high priority on my own personal and professional development. I've dedicated significant time and resources to my growth journey, including a sabbatical year solely focused on self-improvement. This unwavering commitment to continuous learning ensures that I bring a wealth of insight, empathy, and authenticity to my coaching practice.

Who are your services for?I specialize in supporting senior leaders, executives, and leadership teams deeply committed to driving positive change in their countries and industries. My clients come from diverse backgrounds, including non-profit CEOs, social business founders, senior government officials, and leaders in global organizations spanning both the private and social sectors. What sets my clients apart is not just their professional success, but their unwavering dedication to meaningful impact, and their ambition to lead fulfilling lives. My experience with organizational clients has mainly focused on serving non-profits, social enterprises, government agencies, international development organizations, and triple-bottom-line companies.
-
If a topic can be approached as both coaching and advisory, how do you and the client determine which approach to take? When I work with a client who is both a coaching and an advisory client, I collaborate with them to decide whether a coaching or advisory approach is better suited to their needs. To make this decision, we discuss their objectives and situation, and I offer my expertise to guide them in choosing the best approach. I remain flexible and adaptable throughout the process, and we ultimately decide on the approach together through mutual agreement. The focus is always on what will best serve the client's development and success, whether that involves coaching them to find their own solutions or providing expert advice to help them navigate complex issues.
-
What's the difference between leadership coaching and leadership advisory? As a leadership coach, I facilitate self-discovery, awareness, and behavior change to enhance a leader's organizational performance. Coaching is a developmental process in which I work with leaders to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and achieve measurable improvements in their leadership effectiveness. The emphasis tends to be on the leader's personal and professional growth. As a coach, I help leaders develop their own solutions and answers to their leadership and personal challenges. Leadership advisory, on the other hand, tends to be more directive and often involves providing expert advice, sharing knowledge, or solving specific business problems. As an advisor, I use my experience and expertise to guide leaders through strategic decisions, offering recommendations and insights to help navigate complex business challenges. In advisory, the relationship is more about leveraging the advisor's knowledge and expertise.
-
How can I differentiate between coaching and advisory topics? There are two answers: a simplified one and a more nuanced one. Let me start with a simplified answer. Coaching topics are typically centered around personal development and growth. They are about helping the leader to discover their own solutions and paths forward. Here are some examples of "typical" coaching topics: Leadership Development: Focusing on enhancing leadership skills and behaviors. Goal Setting and Achievement: Assisting leaders in setting personal and professional goals and developing strategies to achieve them. Self-Awareness: Helping leaders gain insight into their own behaviors and how they impact others. Behavioral Change: Working with leaders to identify and change behaviors hindering their effectiveness. Work-Life Integration: Guiding leaders to balance their professional responsibilities and personal life. Advisory topics, on the other hand, are more about providing expert advice and guidance on specific business challenges or strategic decisions. Here are some examples of advisory topics: Organizational Change: Advising how to manage and implement change within an organization. Leadership and Talent Development: Advising on designing and implementing strategies to nurture leadership talent and cultivate a desired culture within the organization. Purpose strategic alignment: Helping organizations articulate, clarify, and leverage their purpose and ensuring it is effectively integrated into their strategic direction. Now, here's the more nuanced answer. Many topics lend themselves to both a coaching and an advisory approach. That's where the synergies between inner wisdom (coaching) and external expertise and advice (advisory) happen. Let me illustrate this with an example. Conflict resolution and team performance can be approached as coaching or advisory topics. Coaching focuses on personal development to enhance the leader's conflict resolution skills and team dynamics. Advisory provides expert knowledge and guidance on best practices for conflict resolution and team performance.

What is a typical format or structure of a coaching engagement? In a typical coaching engagement, the structure of the frequency and duration of sessions is designed to empower the client in their growth journey. It ensures that we have enough time to see measurable results and that you play a crucial role in this process. Here's how I generally structure it: 1. Duration: Most coaching engagements start with a six-month minimum term. This period is usually sufficient for the client and those around them to observe measurable changes and improvements. 2. Frequency: Normally, the client and I will meet at a predetermined time for 45 minutes every two weeks. This regularity ensures consistency and allows the development process to occur while providing flexibility to address immediate challenges or opportunities. 3. Commitment: The client is expected to commit to the schedule we agree upon. This commitment reflects their dedication to the work and is crucial for the success of the coaching engagement. 4. Adaptability: While this is a typical structure, I want you to know I am open and flexible to accommodate your unique needs. For example, if you prefer less frequent but longer sessions, I am more than willing to adjust to such requests. 5. Evolution: If the client and I find the engagement valuable, we can extend it after the initial term. Some clients may continue the coaching relationship for a year or more, depending on their goals and the complexity of their challenges. 6. Momentum Maintenance: Following the initial core engagement, we schedule periodic "momentum maintenance" sessions. They typically occur bimonthly or quarterly, depending on the client's preference and progress. They serve as checkpoints to reinforce newfound habits, address any regression, and recalibrate goals as needed. 7. Post-Engagement: Even after the formal engagement ends, clients often reconnect with me for additional support as new challenges arise. This structure is designed to provide a framework that can be customized to fit each client's unique needs while maintaining the integrity of the coaching process.

What can I expect from the coaching relationship? In a coaching relationship with me, you'll have a partner focused on your personal and professional growth. Together, we'll explore your values, strengths, aspirations, and how you may be holding yourself back. My aim is to support you in developing new behaviors, mindsets, and habits that will help you achieve tangible and sustainable progress in your life. During our time together, you should expect to be both challenged and supported, gaining valuable insights into your behaviors and their impact on others. We'll work together to identify and utilize your strengths to their fullest potential. Together, we'll set clear goals and develop actionable strategies. Your agenda is the most important thing during our coaching sessions, so you'll do most of the talking. It's important to note that coaching is a collaborative process that requires active participation and dedication, both during our sessions and in the work you do outside of them. You should also expect to be held accountable for your actions and commitments.

How do I know if I need leadership coaching?Leaders may seek coaching for various reasons, often at a point of organizational or personal inflection. You might consider working with me if you are preparing to take on new responsibilities, leading a large and potentially divided team, or facing significant changes within your organization, such as navigating a transformation and rapid growth process. If you're feeling overwhelmed, burned out, dissatisfied, or experiencing isolation at the top of your organization, I can help you weigh priorities and reframe challenging questions. Stress affecting your health and interactions with others indicates that coaching could be beneficial. Coaching is not just for addressing problems. It's also about expanding your leadership range and improving your life overall. If you're already successful but want to achieve a higher impact or become more influential, I can support you in that journey. If you believe you have room to grow and are committed to putting in the effort required to develop further, working with me as your leadership coach could be a valuable step for your personal and professional advancement.
-
What types of leadership challenges can you help me address?I can assist you with challenges such as: Improving Communication Skills: Coaching can help you learn how to convey your ideas more clearly and effectively, and how to listen actively to others. Conflict Resolution: I can work with you to develop strategies for managing and resolving conflicts within your team or organization. Decision-Making: Enhancing your ability to make well-informed decisions quickly and confidently is another area where coaching can be beneficial. Ego Management: Coaching can help you recognize when your ego is getting in the way of effective leadership and provide strategies for managing it. Change Management: As a leader, you need to be adept at leading through change. Coaching can help you develop the skills to navigate and lead organizational change effectively. Leadership Presence: Developing a strong leadership presence is crucial for inspiring and influencing others. Coaching can help you refine the qualities and behaviors that contribute to your presence as a leader. Scaling Leadership: Coaching can help leaders transition from individual contributors to roles where success is about enabling others. Feedback and Self-Awareness: Coaching can provide you with tools to solicit and act on feedback, increasing your self-awareness and helping you identify blind spots. Influencing Without Authority: If you're in a position where you need to influence others without formal authority, coaching can help you develop the skills to do so effectively. Personal Growth: Beyond specific skills, coaching can support your overall personal growth, helping you become a more effective leader not just in your current role but throughout your career. Wellbeing and stress management: Coaching can provide you with strategies and techniques to effectively manage stress, maintain work-life balance, and prioritize self-care. I will help you identify sources of stress and implement mindfulness and other practices to enhance your overall well-being and sustain high levels of productivity and engagement.

How is coaching different from therapy or counseling? While coaching and therapy both involve supportive relationships aimed at personal growth, improving well-being, and development, they differ in focus, scope, and methodology. As an executive coach, my aim is to assist leaders in enhancing their leadership skills, personal transformation, well-being, and achievement of their goals within the organization. Coaching facilitates rapid, practical, and measurable change specific to the leader's role and organizational impact. Therapy or counseling, on the other hand, typically addresses emotional healing, mental health issues, and unresolved psychological concerns, delving into past experiences and emotions to promote healing and well-being. It's important to understand that coaching is not a substitute for therapy or counseling, especially when diagnosed mental health issues are involved. If someone is unsure whether coaching or therapy is right, they should consult a medical professional.
-
How long does a coaching engagement typically last? Most coaching engagements start with a six-month minimum term. This is generally how long it takes you and those around you to start seeing measurable results. If both you and I find the engagement valuable and productive, it can be extended, which happens frequently. I may work with you for longer periods, several years. In those longer cases, you and I will typically have accomplished most of your goals in the first year or two. After that, the relationship may evolve into one in which I act as a trusted sounding board and a member of your informal group of advisors. Sometimes, we can part ways after one engagement and then rejoin forces later as new challenges arise, such as another promotion, a new job, a market disruption, or a change in leadership. Rest assured, our relationship is not set in stone. It is dynamic and can flexibly adapt to the evolving needs and circumstances of a leader like you.
-
